SVCR settings can be accessed from the tool
bar Settings icon or the View menu. The settings
window is a tabbed window :

The Main tab allows the user to set the default download
directory. Note the elipsis ... to the right
of the download destination combobox. Clicking
this will open an explorer window to browse
for the download directory.
Create Folder creates a new folder with the
full path name specified in the drop down
menu (if it does not exist already). Clear
Folder deleted all the files contained in
the folder specified in the default download
destination.
Maximum active downloads specifies how many
streams may be captured simultaneously. If
you add more streams than this maximum they
will be in a waiting state until one of the
other downloads finishes.
Keep history specifies the length of the
history file in days. The history file lists
the URLs of the streams you have downloaded.
The history file can be viewed by selecting
the History tab in the right window pane.
Not sure what Clear does. It does not clear
my history file.
Reset (at the bottom right) resets the settings
to those that were saved last. Settings are
saved on SVCR exit.
Time parameters can be set using the Time tab window.

Timeout is the number of seconds SVCR will
wait when there is no infomation being received
from a server before issuing a timeout and
attempting to restart the capture. Retry
idle is the time in seconds SVCR will wait
before restarting after a timeout.
Number of attempts is the number of times
SVCR will try to capture a stream before
stopping. Use the check box for SVCR to attempt
an unlimited number of times (or until the
system crashes and everything stops!)
The Proxy tab is used if your internet connection
uses a proxy server.
The Connection tab is used to set the bandwidth.

I recommend you set this to the highest value
(T1 LAN) no matter what your internet connection
bandwidth. Some servers will provide streams
with different bit rates for audio or video
on demand. SVCR will capture the maximum
bit rate stream up to the value you specify
in this window. So for on demand streams
you can capture high bit rate streams even
if you have a low bandwidth internet connection.
The price you pay is a longer download time.
This will not work with live streams. If
you have a low bandwidth connection you will
not be successful in capturing a high bit
rate live stream.
The Advanced tab allows you to place an SVCR icon in
the system tray and to automatically save
your last download URLs to a file. You can
also have SVCR update that file every 5 seconds
with the current download URLs.
The File Confirm and Confirm tabs allow you to turn on or off warning
or confirmation messages.

| By checking the appropriate box you can turn on or turn off the specified warning message. For example when deleting a download item this warning message would be displayed. | ![]() |
The Post Process tab allows SVCR to automatically add links
or URLs to Capture tab window that are contained
in a redirector files or metafiles such as
a .ram, .asx files etc. It does not always
work for SMIL files. For more information
on redirector, metafiles and SMIL files see
Finding URLs. I have not
tried it with mp3 streams. Though SVCR will
handle quicktime metafiles (.mov) it will
not handle quicktime streaming. See Beta
